As thousands of Calgary students return to homeschool on Monday, an organization that donates used computers to families in need says the demand is very high.
The Youth Empowerment and Skills Centreof Calgary has been hoarding new and donated computers and laptops since the start of the pandemic. Its chief executive, Gar Gar, says the organization was inundated with calls from low-income families.
High school students in grades 7 to 12 in Calgary’s public and Catholic school boards must take home classes after a sharp rise in new cases of COVID-19 in recent weeks. Fort McMurray high school students are also required to homeschool however we don’t know its more than two weeks.
