Linksys EA8100 Setup with EXTENDER.LINKSYS.COM

This article will explain how to configure a Linksys EA8100 Max-StreamTM AC2600 MU-MIMO Gigabit Wi-Fi Router with StarHub as an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Make sure you’ve got the following before you start the setup process of Linksys EA8100 Setup :
  • One or two cables from Ethernet
  • A wireless device or a computer with an Ethernet port (smartphone or tablet)
  • Router Setup Browser Requirements and Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Access:
  1. The latest versions of Internet Explorer®, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox®, Safari®, or Microsoft Edge® (for Mac® or iPad®)
  2. Latest Flash® Adobe® Player

To understand how to set up the Linksys EA8100 Setup using the Setup Wizard, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Identify the StarHub equipment provided.

Scenario 1: Disconnect and remove the router if you have a separate modem and a standalone router.User-added image

Scenario 2: Leave it attached if you have a modem-router.User-added image

Step 2: Connect the ethernet cable from your modem’s LAN port to your Linksys EA8100’s Internet (yellow) port.User-added image

Step 3: Turn the equipment supplied by StarHub on and wait for 1 minute before the next step is taken.

Step 4: Connect and plug into an electrical outlet the supplied power adapter into the Linksys EA8100.User-added image

QUICK TIP: Make sure the power light (Linksys logo) of the Linksys Extender Setup is solid before proceeding to the next step. To reboot, press the power button on the back of the Linksys EA8100 if it does not light up.User-added image

Step 5: Connect to the Linksys EA8100’s default Wi-Fi settings using a smartphone or tablet. On the Linksys EA8100 product label, the default Wi-Fi name and password are listed.User-added image

NOTE: Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to any of the numbered ports on the back of the Linksys EA8100 Setup if you are using a wired computer.

Step 6: Start your web browser and in the address bar enter “http://linksyssmartwifi.com” then press [Enter].

QUICK TIP: If you are unable to start Smart Setup, you can enter the router’s default IP address, 192.168.1.1, in the Address bar of the browser.

Step 7: Check the box next to the license terms I have read and accepted for the use of this software. To proceed, then click Next.User-added image

NOTE: The Linksys EA8100 light will light up once you accept the license terms. Solid white implies that internet connections are available, while blinking white implies that the internet is down.

Step 8: In the Router Updates window, Automatically Install Future Router Updates (Recommended) is checked by default for automatic updates. In order to control when to perform an update, you can uncheck it. After logging into the router’s web-based setup page, you can also enable this option again. To proceed, click NEXT. Step 9: In the provided fields, enter your desired Wi-Fi name and Wi-Fi password, then click Next.User-added image

Step 10: In the Create a Router Password field, enter a router password and click Next.

QUICK TIP: If the Add password hint option is displayed on your router, enter your preferred hint in the field provided. In the future, this will help you remember your router password. Only when you choose Local Access will your password hint appear.User-added image

Step 11: Your router is set up if you see it! This means that your router is now successfully configured. The new Wi-Fi settings will be displayed, as well as the router admin password. To complete the entire setup, click Next.

Step 12: Your Wi-Fi ought to be working now. Next, to get access to Linksys Smart Wi-Fi tools and the Linksys app that makes it easier to manage and enjoy your home network, you can create a Linksys cloud account. Click here for instructions. Step 13: By entering the router password you created in Step 10, you can now access the web-based setup page of your router.User-added image

You can access the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi tools once you have logged in and set them according to your preferences.
